Each puzzle has 3 to 6 equations. Each equation consists of colored dots that add up to a number. To solve this, kids can use trial or error, or use algebra.

This is a great way to introduce algebraic concepts.

There is no teaching of algebra in this book. although the instructions page teaches you how to do use the substitution method to solve the equations (without using the terminology of algebra).

Children as young as 7 really enjoy working on this book.

Many third graders will enjoy this kind of puzzle.
